In Schenectady County, the bodies of Robert Guillaume, age 73, and Cathy Guillaume, age 65, were found Friday, July 7, inside a Rotterdam home on Fern Avenue, one block east of the Rotterdam Industrial Park.
Autopsies showed that they both died from homicides, according to Rotterdam Police. Investigators did not reveal their cause of death.
On Wednesday, July 19, police announced that Cathy Guillaume’s 31-year-old son, Anthony Lewis, has been charged with first-degree murder in his mother and stepfather’s deaths.
Lewis lived with the couple at their Rotterdam home, police said. Detectives did not speculate on a possible motive in the killings.
Lewis is currently locked up in the Carbon County jail in Pennsylvania on unrelated charges. He is expected to be extradited back to Schenectady County at a later date.
Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in for Robert, a longtime architect, and Cathy, who spent years caring for children as a pediatric nurse, according to her obituary.
“Bob was always the best work colleague, golf partner and friend. He would always be the first person to reach out and lend that hand in support to myself or others if in need,” reads a tribute on his online memorial.
“Bob will be truly missed by everyone that had the honor to meet and know him. Simply, a great man and mentor.”
A GoFundMe campaign to help the family with memorial expenses continues to grow. Those who wish to donate can do so here.
